Making Money From Freebies
Everywhere you go online you are bombarded with people giving away free gifts. It might seem to be a contradiction in terms but these people all seem to be making a lot of money.
You might be wondering how giving away freebies can lead to a generous income online, but the secret is in what they do after they have given away that freebie.
Making sales online is all about forging relationships and connections with other people. The more familiar people are with you and your business the more likely they are to come back and spend more money with you.
That’s where the freebie has its power. The people who are experts at selling and making real money online know that by giving people a freebie (or several) of outstanding quality first of all, they are sending a powerful message to their future and potential customers.
Consider the possibilities for a moment. Seller A offers you a product for twenty dollars. It’s a good product and you are tempted.
Meanwhile, seller B offers you a really useful freebie, so of course you accept. They then back that up by offering you the same product that seller A has just offered you, and for the same price.
Which person are you more likely to buy the product from?
The chances are you will take your business to seller B, for the simple reason that you have already had some experience of dealing with them, and you liked what they sent you for free.
This is what the freebie does best - it breaks down the walls which can stand between you and your sales. It can put you on the road to success if you are a newcomer to internet marketing, and it can help you to build a good quality mailing list to send emails to in double quick time. It can also improve your current sales if you have already been trading online for some time.
While there are plenty of software items, downloadable programs and e-books online that you can offer to others as a free gift (check that you will have the rights to do this) the best approach is to create your own. A free e-book doesn’t need to be overly long, but it should always contain useful information and be targeted to the people you are sending it to.
Creating your own product allows you to promote your own business and interests via links inserted in the text. You can link to your own website, your affiliate programs and much more - but you should remember that the main focus of the book needs to be to help the reader, and not promote your business.
So don’t underestimate what a freebie can do for you. While it may sometimes seem that you are forever sending out free gifts and not actually selling anything, the freebie works silently in the background, slowly helping you build up connections with your customers.
In future when you send out an offer to buy something, you will find that the take up rate is far higher than it would otherwise have been, thanks to the groundwork that has been laid by your free gifts.
