How long does it take the IRS to audit you?

I didnt file City taxes this year.. I was going to wait untill next friday when the place isnt swarmed with 28971234891742921347 people.. I know i might have to pay a fine but atleast i will file..

    The IRS audit process usually takes at least 12 months to get started.

  2. I don’t know if there’s a time frame. They don’t audit that many people very often so it could take a really long time, but you don’t want that to happen because the penalties are going to build up tremendously.
