   Gotha, none of these other opportunities are going to work. When deciding to open a "home based business" you first must decide what you want to do. To earn money, you have to reach your customer base.

   1. Service jobs. These can be headquartered at your home, but you go and perform a service somewhere else. Such as cleaning service, nanny service, etc. Personally, I do business consulting and go to other people’s homes during my spare time and teach people how to sell things online, opening an Ebay store or their own website.

   2. Retail. The easiest way to figure out the basics of online selling is by selling on Ebay, ioffer.com, etsy.com or another online auction site. By doing this, you learn customer service, support, shipping policies, etc. My "full time" job is my own website where I sell a craft type item to other businesses (logos, materials, etc.). I also sell items on Ebay and network with those customers by pointing them to my website.

   3. You can open an Ebay store or your own website and partner with several drop shipping companies such as doba.com, but it is very difficult to make money this way due to the sheer number of people doing the exact same thing that you are wanting to do.

   All in all, you need to find your own niche market. What services are needed in your area? One home-based business that is generally successful is an in-home daycare. However, you need to research your area’s laws on that type of business.
