Your primary barrier to entry would be costs of developing the software. Assuming that the software is already developed, the biggest hurdle that you face is the cost of marketing the software. Marketing costs are NOT considered to be a barrier to entry, however, given the many, many programs that are already available to financial advisors, you will need an excellent marketing plan.
Make sure that you identify the competition and that you can explain why your software is different!
