Career advancement in clinical practice, engineering firms, educational institutions, and other operational settings traditionally rewards service delivery, operational excellence, and administrative leadership. Research publications? Not so much. For practitioner research to flourish, organisations must incorporate research productivity into promotion criteria. This means revising evaluation rubrics that currently assess clinical volume, patient satisfaction, or operational efficiency to include peer-reviewed publications, successful grant applications, and contributions to evidence-based protocol development.
